Kyoko Hashimoto
Craft  (NSW)

Born in Japan, Kyoko migrated with her family to the country New South Wales town of Armidale in Australia when she was 10 years old. The sense of dislocation she felt from the transition sparked her imagination and passion for design. Echoes of her early life experience are still visible in her current work in metal and plastic.

After graduating from the College of Fine Arts with Honours in 2003, Kyoko exhibited her conceptual jewellery both nationally (Object, Quadrivium and The Art Gallery of New South Wales) and Internationally (Talente, Handwerk & Design, Munich and London Design Week, UK).

In 2005, Kyoko set off on a five year journey through Japan, the Netherland and Germany, and established an eponymous jewellery label with co-designer Guy Keulemans. The label grew as it drew inspirations gathered through her travels through changing landscapes. In 2010, she set up a concept store, We Are All Made of Stuff in the Reuterkiez district of Berlin as a platform to promote young designers of jewellery and product design from around the globe. Kyoko currently lives and works from her new studio in Sydney.
