Masahiro Asaka
Visual Art  (ACT)
Masahiro Asaka graduated from Tokyo International Institute of Glass Art in 2000. He then moved to Australia to work for Sydney based glass artists Ben Edols and Kathy Elliott as a studio assistant until 2005. He completed a Master of Arts (Visual Arts) from the Australian National University in 2008. He is now based in Canberra and is a resident artist at the Canberra Glassworks. His piece ‘Surge 12’ was chosen as the winning submission to the annual Ranamok Glass Prize in 2011. Masahiro’s work is included in the collections of Art Gallery of South Australia, National Gallery of Australia and Palm Spring Art Museum in California, USA.

Masahiro’s exhibitions include “Transition - A Captured Moment” at the Canberra Glassworks (2012), “Mind and Matter” at the Jam Factory, Adelaide and the Object Gallery, Sydney (2010), “Look Forward”, at the Traver Gallery, Tacoma, USA (2010), “Sofa Chicago”, Chicago, USA (2008-2010), “Talente” at the Munich trade fair center, Germany (2008).
