Based in Sydney’s Inner West textile artists Pepa Martin and Karen Davis, who trade under the name “Shibori”, create hand dyed textiles using the ancient Japanese art of Shibori in a contemporary fashion.

Using years of training in design they collaborate with interior designers, architects and stylists to create functional art pieces that make a space truly unique.

“Our passion comes from our love of colour and seeing other arts’ interpretations of this medium.”

With this in mind they have created a range of boutique fabric dyes called “Dye Da Vida” (dye gives life) which has cultivated a new generation of free thinking crafters.

They are publishing a book in April 2012 “Shibori Recreated: Shibori in the 21st Century” which celebrates a collection of recognised artisans worldwide, who create Shibori in its various forms.

Pepa and Karen hope to inspire others to explore the fun that is Shibori.
